Eucharisteo: 1000 Gifts

Eucharisteo is a greek word that encompasses Grace, Thanksgiving & Joy. What an amazing word to describe so much!!  I went to a retreat and the study material came from Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts. We were all challenged to come up with a list of 1000 Gifts, things that we are thankful for.  I was immediately "on-board" the 1000 gift train.  Then I started to really think about it...1000 gifts? How will I ever complete this list?  The thing is, I believe that once I get started, it will be a never-ending list for everything comes from God. The main topic of this study was the word eucharisteo. I am going to paste an excerpt of Ann's word picture to better explain the meaning.

As long as thanks is possible, then joy is always possible. Joy is always possible. Whenever, meaning--now; wherever, meaning--here. The holy grail of joy is not in some exotic location or some emotional mountain peak experience. The joy wonder could be here! Here, in the messy, piercing ache of now, joy might be--unbelievably--possible! The only place we need see before we die is this place of seeing God, here and now.

I whisper it out loud, let the tongue feel these sounds, the ear hear their truth.

Charis. Grace.
Eucharisteo. Thanksgiving.
Chara. Joy.

A triplet of stars, a constellation in the black.

A threefold cord that might hold a life? Offer a way up into the fullest life?

Grace, thanksgiving, joy. Eucharisteo.

These are in no particular order. Go ahead and start your list, or list some of yours in the comments below!!

#9 Grace

God's Grace is a gift. But sometimes our loved ones aren't so forgiving, it takes time.  I find myself in need a huge bucketful of grace right now.

#10 Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a promise, not a feeling.  When you forgive you are making a promise to                                                       not hold their past sin against them.
